Sehen, was sieht
A solitary man stands in the middle of a busy street, seen from behind, looking ahead. Colorful fabric banners hang across the street on both sides, each banner displaying the word "koan" in different scripts and languages – Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Latin, Thai, Georgian, Armenian, Tibetan. The street is alive with anonymous pedestrians, simple buildings on both sides, maybe a few trees. Warm afternoon light. Style: Naive painting in the manner of Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani – flat perspective, bold outlines, earthy colors with unexpected bright accents, slightly melancholic atmosphere, figures with dignified stillness, no sentimentality. Oil on oilcloth texture.
